Integrating representations with new display technology

Dr. Markus Huff
In this project a new display technology which allows the presentation of two integrated representations is applied. In contrast to a split screen display where two representations are presented next to each other, the observer can decide by changing the head position which representation he watches. The observer does not have to change the visual focus. Besides this advantage, the display is very attractive and is therefore appropriate for the use in a museum. The first step in this project is the examination of the potential benefits of this display technology in a learning context. Therefore current learning theories have to be extended to fit the requests of the new technology. As further step it is planned to extend the labratory findings to a museum setting by testing a media station in the Deutsche Museum where such a display is alread set up.
