Dr. Dr. Elise Klein

Leiterin der Nachwuchsprojektgruppe "NeuroLearn" der Nachwuchsgruppe Neuro-kognitive Plastizität

Elise Klein arbeitet seit April 2015 im Rahmen eines Wrangell-Habiliationsprogramms am IWM in der Nachwuchsgruppe Neuro-kognitive Plastizität. Von November 2012 bis Dezember 2013 war sie am IWM als PostDoc tätig. Im Januar 2014 wurde sie Leiterin der Nachwuchsprojektgruppe NeuroLearn, die sie im SAW-Verfahren 2014 im Rahmen des Pakts für Forschung und Innovation eingeworben hat. Zentraler Aspekt ihrer Forschung ist es, die neuronalen Grundlagen der Zahlenverarbeitung und des Rechnens sowie die neuronale Plastizität beim (numerischen) Lernen mit verschiedenen neurokognitiven Methoden zu untersuchen (fMRI, DTI, VLSM, VBM, tDCS, EEG). Ziel ist, die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse für die Entwicklung von Interventionsprogrammen sowohl für das Erlernen (im Schulunterricht) als auch das Wiedererlernen numerischer Kompetenzen (z. B. nach einem Schlaganfall) zu nutzen.


Elise Klein studierte Humanmedizin an der RWTH Aachen (Staatsexamen und Approbation als Ärztin 2007) und der Universität Bern, Schweiz (2006). Anschließend arbeitete sie von 2008 bis 2012 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in den Sektionen Neuropsychologie und Neurolinguistik der Neurologischen Klinik der Uniklinik Aachen, wo sie 2009 im Fach Humanmedizin zum Dr. med. (summa cum laude) promovierte. Für die herausragende Qualität ihrer Dissertation erhielt sie 2010 die Borchers Medaille der RWTH Aachen. Parallel arbeitete sie ab 2008 am Lehrstuhl für Diagnostik und Kognitive Neuropsychologie an der Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, wo sie im September 2012 im Fach Psychologie zum Dr. rer. nat. (summa cum laude) promovierte.


Elise Klein ist Mitglied des Postdoc-Netzwerks "Kognitive Konflikte bei der Mediennutzung" des IWM.
