Mariia Soliar
Member of the Language and AI in Education Lab
Since August 2024, Mariia Soliar has been working as a software developer at the IWM within the Language and AI in Education lab. She is involved in the development of the Intelligent Tutoring System called FeedBook, where her main tasks include software development, advancing computational linguistics methods for educational applications, and supporting research initiatives within the group. Mariia’s programming work is centered on enhancing the feedback mechanism of the system. Before joining IWM, she was a research assistant in the same team at the University of Tübingen from December 2023 until the team’s transition to IWM.
Mariia holds two bachelor's degrees: one in Linguistics, Theory and Method of Teaching Foreign Languages and Cultures from Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in Saint Petersburg, completed in 2020, and another in Computational Linguistics from the University of Tübingen, completed in 2023. Her bachelor thesis focused on FeedBook, specifically improving its feedback generation mechanism through Learning Analytics.
