Member of the Multimodal Interaction Lab
Since May 2023, Irena Vanessa Ivan has been a researcher at the Multimodal Interaction lab. She is writing her PhD thesis as part of the "Assisting the Remote Video Learner with Self-Regulation Support" project. Her research focuses on developing a suitable intervention that supports learning via online video lectures by reducing the negative effects of mind wandering. To design the intervention, she is using a webcam-based mind wandering detection tool and integrating insights from the literature on interpolated testing. She is also investigating the potential of using Chat GPT, a Large Language Model developed by Open AI, in the design of question items.
Irena Vanessa Ivan completed a double bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 2021. She completed two master’s degree programs at the same university in 2021 specializing in Human Learning and Performance as well as Clinical Psychology. Following her studies, she worked as a lecturer for the Educational Psychology master’s program at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam.
