Research Fellowship Program

The IWM is open to hosting Post-Doc Fellows within the Marie Curie Fellowship Program with Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (IF). MSCA Individual Fellowships offer attractive funding for post-doctoral projects within Europe. Interested postdoctoral researchers should show profound interests in the topics of one of the research groups of the IWM.

The Individual Fellowships are a great option if you are an experienced researcher looking to give your career a boost by working abroad. Applicants need a doctoral degree or at least four years’ full-time research experience by the time of the call deadline. You can apply for a research stay of 1 to 2 years.

The grant provides an allowance to cover living, travel and family costs. In addition, the EU contributes to the training, networking and research costs of the fellow, as well as to the management and indirect costs of the project. The grant is awarded to the host organization, usually a university, research center or a company in Europe.

Postdoc Forum

Postdocs at the IWM perform central research tasks, are important key players within the labs and junior research groups, and act as multipliers of IWM research on a national and international level. For this reason, it is particularly important to the IWM to support young researchers on their path to early independence and to create framework conditions that take into account the diversity of career paths during and after the postdoc phase.

Against this background, the Postdoc Forum was established in 2021 – as a follow-up to the previous Postdoc Network, whose funding by the Leibniz Association expired in 2021. It serves as an exchange platform for all postdocs at the IWM and brings together both individuals pursuing a career in which they apply their research skills within or outside academia and postdocs aiming for a research career with the ultimate goal of obtaining a university professorship. The IWM sponsors workshops and events, which address topics relevant to different career aspirations, for both groups upon suggestion by the postdocs. Postdocs who aspire to a university professorship or comparable position in the academic field are also given the opportunity to participate in a competitive process to obtain intramural funding in the form of seed funding.
