Flexibility & compatibility

Flexible working hours

Employees at the IWM can organise their own individual working hours flexibly between 6 am and 9 pm.

Central location in Tübingen

Like the University of Tübingen, the IWM is very centrally located and within easy reach of Tübingen's historic city centre.

Hybrid working

On request and for suitable tasks, IWM employees can work from home on a pro rata basis.

Further development & career

Lab visits for researchers

PhD students have the opportunity to spend several weeks with national and international cooperation partners.

IWM doctoral programme

Our structured doctoral programme enables ongoing effective supervision and high-quality scientific work.

Further education and training

The IWM offers further education and training programmes for academic staff and employees from the service areas.

Mobility & Sustainability

Job ticket

All full-time employees at the IWM can receive a subsidy of 25 euros per month towards the total cost of the Deutschlandticket as a job ticket.

E-bikes for employees

Two e-bikes are available to our employees for business purposes.

Sustainability

We see sustainability as a collaborative process. The job ticket and the e-bike offer are part of our endeavours towards sustainability.

Outstanding research needs support behind the scenes. Team assistants, administrative staff, the directorate, media technology and media development support our scientists. In this way, we offer varied and exciting fields of activity not only in research, and at the same time a first-class infrastructure for a scientific career path.

Team spirit & lively togetherness

More than just work: there is a lively sense of togetherness at IWM. In addition to the regular company parties, there are a variety of joint activities. From a book club to a games evening, from city cycling to a summer party - there are many opportunities to network outside of work at IWM.

We live diversity

Like the research itself, the scientific staff is international and interdisciplinary. We live diversity - in disciplines, nationalities and personalities. We value a wide variety of personalities in our teams and want to promote individual development opportunities. Working together in an appreciative manner, tackling challenges together and a supportive feedback culture are important to us.

Focus on health

Health-promoting structures and programmes for all IWM employees in their fields of work are a high priority for us. Our aim is to create an ideal environment for our employees in which they feel comfortable and can work effectively. This is why, among other things, we have started to remodel our premises based on modern work concepts. In the institute's own project ‘New Work@IWM’, aspects of (collaborative) work at the IWM are being optimised with the involvement of employees.

Family-friendly, flexible working models

Nobody should have to choose between family and career. We are committed to this and offer family-friendly and flexible working time models. On request and for suitable tasks, IWM employees have the opportunity to work from home on a pro rata basis.

The university town of Tübingen has a lot to offer with its location on the Neckar and its winding alleyways. Tübingen is not only a great place to work, but also a wonderful place to live.
