Alumni meetings have been held at the IWM since 2017. You can find a brief overview of previous alumni events at the IWM below.
On 15 November 2024, alumni were able to get to know other alumni and current researchers at an alumni speed dating event. They also had the opportunity to explore the new Future Innovation Space, which celebrated its re-opening event. Afterwards, the Science Slam at the IWM on the topic of ‘arguing better’, which took place as part of the Science and Innovation Days, could also be attended.
The first virtual IWM alumni meeting took place on 5 November 2020. After preparations for the evaluation and then the coronavirus pandemic made it impossible to meet at the IWM, the idea of a virtual meet-up was born. With the topic of ‘Leadership at a distance’, a focus was set on the one hand on IWM research and at the same time alumni working in management positions were able to share practical experience. After a keynote speech by PD Dr Annika Scholl, former employees described their experiences as managers in times of working from home. Afterwards, the Laptops in Space platform provided the opportunity to meet virtually.
The first alumni meeting took place at our institute in 2017. Former IWM employees reported on their current professional lives and explained how their former research work at the IWM has influenced their current activities. Many have remained in research, while others have found new professional fields. The spectrum ranges from activities in software ergonomics, school psychology and organisational consulting to the penal system. Knowledge and communication processes, such as those we analyse at the IWM, play an important role everywhere.
