Meta project “Digitalisation in The fields of Education” (Digi-EBF) – Teacher Education
Workgroup | e-teaching-Transfer |
Duration | 09/2018-12/2023 |
Funding | BMBF |
Project description
The design and use of technological developments and the promotion of digital competences are central fields of action in the education sector. The meta-project "Digitisation in Education I" (Digi-EBF I) supported the projects of the BMBF funding line of the same name in the framework programme Empirical Educational Research.
The sub-project at the IWM focused on teacher education. Teacher educators play a key role in preparing pre-service teachers for the integration of technology in education. Pre-service teachers should not only experience the use of technology during their studies, but also acquire the necessary skills to be able to use technology effectively in the classroom. The portal e-teaching.org served as a platform to promote the exchange between university practice and research and to disseminate scientific findings of the project. As part of the meta-project, the "e-teaching.org" portal was specifically expanded to better support the special requirements of teacher educators. Dialogue forums were held to involve and network stakeholders. In addition, critical reviews of the state of research on issues relevant to the target group were be produced. Another part of the project was the development of measurement methods for the evaluation of digital higher education teaching.
"Digi-EBF I" was a joint meta-project of the University of Duisburg-Essen, the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE), the Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education (DIPF), and the IWM. The meta-project addressed stakeholders in the fields of early childhood education, school education, adult education, vocational training, and teacher education. The main objectives of the meta-project were to summarize the current state of research on learning with technology, to compare the state of research with the results of the funding projects, to link the different actors in the fields of education, and to foster knowledge transfer between researchers and practitioners.
