The Psychology Department of the Faculty of Science at University of Tübingen and the independent Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) are seeking to appoint a

W3 Research Professor for Educational Psychology

beginning 31 October 2023.

The appointment will be made according to the Berlin model or the Jülich model.

The professorship is part of the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM), one of 96 research institutions of the Leibniz Association (Leibniz Gemeinschaft). The IWM’s research focuses on knowledge acquisition, knowledge exchange, and cooperation with digital media. The successful applicant will be expected to establish and manage a lab dedicated to support and investigate (adaptive) online learning and instruction processes (e.g., in the field of multimedia and self-regulated learning), among others with the help of innovative techniques (e.g., eye-tracking or psychophysiological measures). Close cooperation with the other IWM labs is desirable, as is a willingness to engage in the local initiatives in educational research in Tübingen (e.g., LEAD graduate school and research network).

As a member of the Leibniz Association, the IWM is committed to international standards of excellence in science and offers outstanding opportunities for academic work. Applicants are expected to have a distinguished, internationally visible research profile in the field of multimedia learning in various educational contexts (school, university, etc.), to have acquired substantial competitive third-party funding, and to have engaged in research transfer activities. In addition, they must be willing to engage in cooperative, interdisciplinary research with other IWM labs and to participate in managing and developing the IWM.

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent international degree and postdoctoral qualifications equivalent to the requirements for tenure. This includes evidence of teaching effectiveness.

The appointment will be made at the Faculty of Science of Tübingen University.
