Deputy Head of the Realistic Depictions Lab.
Since 2001 Bärbel Garsoffky has been a scientific employee at the IWM in the Realistic Depictions lab. Her main research field is how realistic media depict contents and how these contents are perceived and processed. To examine this question presentational characteristics of media are varied and their influence on cognition is measured in experimental settings. Furthermore Bärbel Garsoffky is contact person for all concerns of the in-house library.
Bärbel Garsoffky studied psychology at the University of Tübingen (diploma 1994), received her doctorate with a dissertation about ‘Viewpoint dependence during the recognition of events’ using the example of soccer sequences in 2000. Together with Friedrich Hesse she was applicant of the project ‘Canonical views on visual events’ funded by the DFG (February 2004 – January 2006).
