Daniela Becker arbeitet seit August 2016 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin (Postdoc) in der Arbeitsgruppe Soziale Prozesse am IWM. Ihre Forschung beschäftigt sich mit der (z.B. affektiven) Erfahrung, der Lösung und den Konsequenzen von Konflikten im Bereich der Selbstkontrolle, Motivation und Entscheidungsfindung. Zum Beispiel konnte sie zeigen, dass Konflikte während Selbstkontrollentscheidungen zu weniger Entscheidungszufriedenheit und mehr negativen Emotionen führen. In einem anderen Projekt (einer Kooperation im Rahmen des Postdoc Netzwerks) untersucht sie, wie diese Befunde mit Gedächtnisprozessen zusammenhängen.
Daniela Becker studierte Psychologie an der Cardiff University (BSc, 2009) und an der University of Amsterdam (MSc Research, 2011). Während ihrer Promotion (2017), ebenfalls an der University of Amsterdam, beschäftigte sie sich überwiegend mit dem Thema Selbstkontroll-Konflikte und mit der Regulation von Essverhalten. Dazu kombinierte sie Erkenntnisse und Methoden aus der Kognitions- und Sozialpsychologie. Sie forschte auch zu anderen Themen wie illusionärer Kontrolle, Emotionen und Suchtverhalten.
Daniela Becker ist Mitglied des Postdoc-Netzwerks "Kognitive Konflikte bei der Mediennutzung" des IWM.
