Portrait of Hauke S. Meyerhoff

Member of the Realistic Depictions Lab.

Since March 2014, Hauke Meyerhoff has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Realistic Depictions lab. Starting as a PhD student, he began working at the institute in June 2010.  His research is devoted to the processes of perception, attention, and memory that allow humans to process and interpret dynamic and/or multimodal information. This encompasses research aiming at the optimization of dynamic as well as multimodal representations (e.g., videos) with regard to knowledge acquisition. Further, Hauke Meyerhoff investigates immediate as well as long-term effects of  mobile device usage (e.g., smartphones) on cognitive processes.

Hauke Meyerhoff completed his dissertation at the University of Tübingen and the IWM. In his thesis, he addressed the impact of attentional processes during the perception of dynamic scenes. His dissertation was awarded with the Young-Researcher-Award of the Leibniz Association. Hauke Meyerhoff is involved in several international and national collaborations investigating the cross-modal and dynamic nature of human information processing. Within these collaborations, he has attended lab visits at Yale University (Perception & Cognition Lab) as well as Northwestern University (Visual Thinking Lab).
