Member of the Realistic Depictions Lab
Since September 2017 Magdalena Novak has been working as a research assistant in the Realistic Depictions lab at the IWM. In July 2021 she completed her PhD with the title "Touch this wisely - you may want to know more ... How the haptic sense may enhance learning experiences and learning outcomes", for which she was honored with the Leibniz Dissertation Award 2022. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the field of informal and out-of-school learning. From October 2021 to December 2022, she coordinated the international research network BILAD ("Educational research at informal learning sites in the Interplay between authenticity and digitality ") as part of a BMBF collaborative project. From 2017 to 2021, she investigated the visitor-oriented presentation of controversial content in the museums as part of the DFG knowledge transfer project “Conveying conflicting scientific topics in exhibitions: Development and optimization of an exhibition prototype and a museum-related wiki”.Magdalena Novak studied Cognitive Science (B.Sc. 2015) and Educational Science and Psychology (M. Sc. 2017) at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. From 2014 to 2017 she worked at the IWM as a student assistant in the project "Democratization of expert knowledge – The production and use of maps in new media worlds". During her master studies she worked as a student assistant at the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology in Tübingen.
