Head of the Realistic Depictions Lab
Stephan Schwan is head of the Realistic Depictions Lab. His research focus is on cognitive processing and comprehension of dynamic audiovisual media and the role of digitial media and authentic exhibits for informal learning in museums.
Stephan Schwan studied psychology at the University of Tübingen, where he received his doctorate and did his habilitation. From 2002 to 2004 he was full professor for e-learning at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria) and then moved to the IWM. From 2017 to 2024 he was Deputy Director of the IWM and a member of the Executive Board of the “Medien in der Bildung” foundation.
