Portrait of Ulrika Ferner

Ulrika Ferner has been a research assistant and PhD student in the Multimodal Interaction lab since February 2023. For the project “experience-based digital access to research in a natural history museum”, they cooperate with the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart to develop a variety of mixed-reality-applications to introduce visitors to the evolution and diversity of insects. The focus of this project lies primarily on creating a feeling of empathy with and emotional connections to the insects and using this change of perspective to emphasize their importance.

Main research topics:

  • Informal education, with a focus on biology/biodiversity education
  • Using immersive media to create engagement/motivation
  • Exhibition design
