IWM e-teaching-Transfer

The e-teaching-Transfer lab deals with the question of how teaching at schools and universities can be supported by digital media. It focusses its transfer activities on the development and design of portals and is currently concentrating on two main areas: (1) the operation and further development of the portal "e-teaching.org" in the university sector and (2) the development of portals in the school sector.

Over 20 years of experience with e-teaching.org has shown that an editorially supervised portal can provide a sound basis for the transfer of practice and significantly support the exchange between science and practice through targeted activities.

Against this background, the (further) development of portals is at the centre of the activities of the new lab established in 2023. This includes, for example, developing strategies for transferring proven portal design principles to new contexts and providing efficient editorial support for co-constructive content development processes. Based on this cross-context practical work, it will also be possible to generate findings that contribute to a better theoretical understanding of transfer processes between research and practice communities and to a systematic further development of the concept of transfer.

Within the framework of the project, a problem-oriented connection of the information and qualification portal "e-teaching.org" for the higher education sector to the National Education Platform (Education Space) is to be created and transferred to productive operation. Building on the results of an already completed project (conception phase), the prototypical connection to the education space started there will be further expanded and various services of "e-teaching.org" will be extended to make them interoperable with the education space and other connected services.

Future Space – Kompetenzverbund lernen:digital

Students are growing into a culture of digitality. To shape their future in a self-directed way, they need digitization-related know-how and orientational knowledge. High-quality teacher training is a prerequisite for the successful digital transformation of schools and education. The Kompetenzverbund lernen:digital is committed to this goal. The IWM participates in the science communication for “lernen:digital” by designing the Future Space.

Portal e-teaching.org

The use of digital media in higher education seems to be taken for granted today - but a closer look reveals that its potential is often far from being fully exploited. This applies both to traditional forms, such as the use of learning management systems, and to new developments, such as the design of hybrid learning spaces or the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching. These examples illustrate the importance of continuous, low-threshold and quality-assured support for the use of digital media in teaching.

Professional networks for fostering adaptive, process-oriented, technology-enhanced innovations in STEM teacher education (MINT-ProNeD)

Students with very different learning abilities take part in STEM lessons. Adaptive teaching, which considers individual prerequisites and offers personalised learning opportunities, is a promising didactic concept for dealing with heterogeneity. In the "MINT-ProNeD" project, research-based training and counselling concepts are being developed to support STEM teachers in using digital technologies for adaptive teaching and in preparing for future technologies.

Professional networks for the promotion of adaptive, action-based, digital innovations in teacher education in art, music, and sport (KuMuS-ProNeD)

Digital technologies offer opportunities to rethink and redesign art, music, and sports lessons (KuMuS). Digital technologies are a promising medium especially for the targeted promotion of individual learning requirements of pupils. To integrate these technologies innovatively and successfully into everyday life in schools, the "KuMuS-ProNeD" project aims to develop an integrative overall concept for teacher education in art, music and sport and thus complements the "MINT-ProNeD".

Visibility and Update – Enhancing the content- and community-driven development of the portal e-teaching.org (AuftAkt)

The IWM’s portal "e-teaching.org" has been supporting the use of digital media in higher education since 2003 by providing practical and research-based information. A particular strength of the portal is the wide range of information it offers, including more than 1,000 websites. The AuftAkt project addresses two key challenges associated with the portal's extensive knowledge base: finding portal content (1) and keeping it up to date (2).
