Dr. Sergio Cervera Torres promovierte 2017 am IWM-Multimodal Interaktion Lab mit dem Schwerpunkt Affektive Spatialisierung in der Mensch-Computer-Interaktion (MCI). Seine innovative Arbeit fand große Anerkennung und führte 2021 zu einem renommierten Stipendium der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) für Nachwuchswissenschaftler. Dr. Torres konzentrierte sich hier auf die Entwicklung und Anwendung des Spatial Affective Interaction (SAI)-Modells, das den Einfluss räumlicher Faktoren auf emotionale Reaktionen, zielgerichtete Aktionen bei manuellen Interaktionen und die Auswirkungen der Handnähe auf die digitale affektive Verarbeitung untersucht. Dr. Torres leistete außerdem Beiträge zur eHealth-Forschung und entwickelte und evaluierte fortschrittliche Technologien wie mobile Apps und VR-Umgebungen mit Schwerpunkt auf Emotionsregulation, kognitiven Funktionen und neurologischen Entwicklungsstörungen.
