Birgit Brucker ist stellvertretende Leiterin der Arbeitsgruppe Multimodale Interaktion und wissenschaftliche Koordinatorin des Mixed Reality Labors sowie des Multi-Touch Labors im Future Innovation Space des IWM. Ihre Forschung konzentriert sich auf die Gestaltung und den Einsatz innovativer Interaktionsmedien wie Virtual Reality und Multi-Touch-Tische, um das Verständnis in verschiedenen Inhaltsdomänen zu fördern, darunter naturwissenschaftliche Zusammenhänge, Bewegungsabläufe und künstlerisch-musische Fächer. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit liegt auf der Untersuchung verkörperter Interaktionen, wie dem Einfluss der Handnähe (also des Abstands zwischen den Händen der Benutzer*innen und der dargestellten Information) sowie der Rolle von Handgesten und des gesamten Körpers bei der Informationsverarbeitung und dem Wissenserwerb. Darüber hinaus erforscht sie die Potenziale und Risiken von Künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) in KI-unterstützten Schreibszenarien, wie die Nutzung von ChatGPT für kreatives und wissenschaftliches Schreiben.

  • Anwendung statischer und dynamischer Visualisierungen zur Unterstützung des Wissenserwerbs
  • Embodied Learning (einschließlich unterstützender Gesten beim Lernen und der Nähe der Hände zur dargebotenen Information)
  • Nutzung virtueller Lernräume und innovativer Interaktionsmedien in Bildungs- und Lehrszenarien (z.B. Virtual Reality und Multi-Touch-Tische)
